The FINANCIAL — On 24 March 2015, Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili took part in the Annual Donor Coordination Forum chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, according to MFA Georgia.
Members of the Government of Georgia, diplomatic corps accredited to Georgia and heads of donor organisations attended the event.
The Georgian Foreign Minister addressed the Forum. She welcomed the initiative of the Administration of the Government and thanked the donor organisations for the assistance they have been rendering to Georgia that, according to her, has played a significant role in the country’s economic, as well as institutional development.
In her address, Tamar Beruchashvili highlighted the coordinated co-operation with donors, especially in light of new opportunities that have emerged following the signature of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
“Partner countries and international organisations continue to give priority to providing international assistance to Georgia. It is highly important that the number of countries supporting Georgia keeps rising. Pursuing active co-operation with the foreign aid organisations of the partner countries remains the top priority of Georgia’s diplomatic corps abroad. The Association Agreement with the European Union, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, opens up new and unique opportunities. The realisation of these opportunities, however, calls for such a vast amount of financial and technical resources that can be hardly mobilised without international assistance. We hope that in the coming years the partner countries’ support and assistance will further intensify in all areas”.
The Minister underlined the need of closer coordination with the donor countries and maximum extent of their involvement for ensuring Georgia’s sustainable and stable development.
The Annual Donor Coordination Forum was launched in 2015 by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. The Forum aims at achieving coordinated co-operation with partner organisations and effective use of foreign assistance.
