The FINANCIAL — In his Christmas Epistle, Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II speaks of role of Georgian mass media and the authorities in spirituality of the nation, according to Interpressnews.
The epistle says that numerous of good deeds are linked to the name of mass media, but it’s fact that TV programs and press demonstrate sins, trying to legalize them and entrench an opinion as if it is a normal feature of humans.
‘Lechery and turpitude are displayed not only as acceptable, but as exemplary events; fake reputation persons are crafted, who are encouraged and rewarded for their anti-national and anti-Christian activities. Public teaching of sin and its ingraining depraves society, insults its dignity and makes it lose a craving for progress. Thereby, society has to protect itself and its offspring,’ the epistle reads.
The Georgian Patriarch thinks particular responsibility is put on the authorities, while Church calls every sinner for remorse and prohibits their judgment by others.
‘Today each of us faces a choice – leave traditions and adjust to fake culture, or resist informational pressure and retain values kept by our ancestors to date. May God help us to maintain our face in current global political-economic and cultural processes and Georgia stay as Georgia,’ the Christmas Epistle says.
