The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, corporal from the 3rd infantry brigade, Jambul Mgeladze, serving in Iraq died in a car accident on December 21, the Georgian Ministry of Defense said on December 24.
The incident took place in the city of Al Kut, where the Georgian soldiers are deployed,
MoD said on October 2 that a corporal from same brigade, Zurab Chigoshvili, committed suicide in while serving in Iraq. The incident, according to MoD, was no related with the corporal’s military service.
A total of 18 Georgian servicemen have been injured in Iraq since the first deployment in August 2003. Georgian troop levels in Iraq were increased from 850 to 2,000 this year. They are, however, due to be reduced to 300 in summer, 2008.
