The FINANCIAL — Giorgi Skhirtladze, student at Demirel College financed by the LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia won the silver medal and was named in the Top Five. Besides, Georgian students – Aleksandre Tskhovrebovi and Elene Machaidze, 12th grade students at Tbilisi Vladimer Komarov Public School N199 of Physic and Mathematics gained two bronze medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics.
The 22nd Central European Olympiad in Informatics in which the Georgian students were participating for the first time was held on June 29 – July 4, in the Czech Republic, Brno, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Bakur Tsutskhashvili, 11th grade student at Kutaisi A. Razmadze physics-mathematical public school №41 also took part in the Olympiad. Four Georgian students presented themselves at the Olympiad.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia met with the prize winners of the Olympiad. According to him, this is the first case when the Georgian students achieved a great success at the Central European Olympiad in Informatics and Georgia was named in the Top Five among the fifteen countries.
The Central European Olympiad in Informatics is one of the prestigious international competitions held since 1994.
One of the most important Olympiads worldwide is the two-day event of computer programming and algorithms. It is aimed at students of secondary schools interested in informatics.
The LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia promotes talented students to presents themselves at the international arena and increase their qualification on the basis of participation in high-level competitions.
