The FINANCIAL — With effect as from 1 June 2015, Gilles Laurent has been appointed EVP Flight Operations at Air France and replaces Eric Schramm, who will take up a new position in the coming months.
As such, Gilles Laurent becomes a member of the Governing Board of the Air France group and reports directly to Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France.
A qualified pilot and a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris, Gilles Laurent began his career at Air France in 1990 as a First Officer on Boeing 737. As well as his position as a pilot on various different Air France aircraft (A330/340, A320) where he qualified as Flight Captain in 2002 and then instructor, Gilles Laurent was appointed Head of International Relations at the crew training division in 2000, after previously having gained experience at the European Commission as part of an internship at the ENA business school. He became VP for Human Resources at the Pilot division in 2005.
In 2009, he was given the responsibility of the project to reform flight safety. He was appointed VP Quality and Flight Safety in 2012, a position he held until June 2.
