The FINANCIAL — Hong Kong Airlines is pleased to announce that two global aviation veterans have joined the Company. Mr Chan Kwok Wing has been appointed as Director, Corporate Safety, Quality Assurance & Security Department, responsible for the overall strategy, development and management of that department. Meanwhile, Mr Christopher Birt took up the role of General Manager, Inflight Services in the Service Delivery Department, responsible for managing service and performance standards for the cabin crew.
Mr Chan Kwok Wing, Director of Corporate Safety, Quality Assurance & Security Department, has 27 years of working experience in the international aviation corporations, specializing in safety and quality assurance. Prior to joining Hong Kong Airlines, he was Head of Corporate safety and Quality at Dragonair. Mr Chan served in various management positions at internationally renowned industry players including BAE Systems Plc. and Airbus, accumulating profound professional knowledge and ample experience of flight safety, according to Hong Kong Airlines.
Mr Christopher Birt, General Manager, Inflight Services of Service Delivery Department, possesses almost 20 years of experience in aviation and has a broad expertise in front-line operation. Before taking up his current position, Mr Birt was the Head of Cabin Crew at Thomson Airways, leading the Cabin Services Department with responsibility of cabin crew development and management. He also held key role at Virgin Atlantic Airways prior to that.
Mr. Zhang Kui, President of Hong Kong Airlines said, “We are excited to have Mr Chan and Mr Birt who were both from world-class airlines with profound management expertise to join us. I believe that the solid managerial experience and knowledge in aviation safety of Mr Chan will help further lift our overall corporate safety level, while Mr Birt’s joining will add new excitement to the development of our inflight service which we are always proud of, leading the team to deliver the best service for our passengers. The appointment further strengthens the management team of Hong Kong Airlines, boosting to our confidence and laying a cornerstone to become an international airline.”
Mr Chan said: “Safety takes priority in every airline. As the Director of Corporate Safety Department, my immediate priority is to raise the safety and security awareness of every staff in Hong Kong Airlines. We shall all demonstrate our commitment to safety by ensuring that safety remains our core value and mindset in our daily work.”
Mr Birt said, “I am glad to become a member of Hong Kong Airlines, and I look forward to supporting the international network expansion of the airline with my experience in inflight services, bringing an innovative and pleasant journey to every passenger, as well as leading Hong Kong Airlines to be a preferred carrier for the customers.”
