The FINANCIAL — Being among the three largest international real estate services companies, Colliers International now has a presence in Georgian property market. Colliers offers comprehensive real estate services to investors, property owners, tenants and developers worldwide. Real estate development, corporate brokerage, market research, valuation and advisory will be Collier’s main service lines in Georgia.
“This means that we can offer clients a unique opportunity to expand their real estate portfolio in Georgia,” said Chris McLernon, CEO of the company. “It is a dynamic time in Georgia’s economic development with the country focused on tourism, real estate, agriculture and the energy sector. There are a lot of great opportunities for domestic and international investment. Colliers is a global leader in real estate advisory companies, with revenues of more than USD 2 billion. The annual transactions volume of the company exceeded USD 75 billion in 2013. We will offer advice and assistance to Georgian partners to fasten their success,” he added.
“We have four values. The first is expertise, which is really done professionally. The second value is service excellence. The third value is community – the professionals who enjoy working in our community. And finally, our fourth value is for all our employees working at Colliers to have fun! We see opportunities in Georgia. We are also here for our clients. We have local multi-national clients like Microsoft. We know that our clients also see opportunities for investing in Georgia. By entering the Georgian market we want to share our knowledge and experience with Georgian partners. We did the same in London, New York and other markets where Colliers operates. Knowledge-sharing will raise the level of standards on the Georgian market as well. We see a great future for the Colliers brand in Georgia,” McLernon added.
During the two-day visit Chris McLernon and his colleague EMEA Corporate Solutions Director Karel Stransky held meetings with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Deputy Minister of Energy, PM’s Economic Council, President of National Bank of Georgia and other institutions. Additionally, business meetings were held with leading business groups operating in Georgia: Rakia, Wissol, GCF, Silk Road, GPC, GIG and others.
“The market entry of a company of this scale should make Georgia more attractive to institutional investors,” said Irakli Kilauridze, the Managing Director of Colliers International Georgia. “Our goal is to offer real estate owners and investors in Georgia a new, exceptional service standard and link local opportunities with the world capital markets. For Georgia the reason why Collier’s entrance is so important is that Georgian investors will subsequently have access to international financial capital. At the same time the standards of doing business on the real estate market will improve. And another important aspect is that Colliers has expressed its trust in Georgian partners. There will be several service directions our company will offer the market, like development and brokerage services, construction management and supervision, as well as professional services. The company is going to access Armenian and Azerbaijanian markets from Georgia,” he added.
Colliers has already worked on several projects in Georgia mainly contracted by the state. Previously this was managed through offices in London, Kiev or Istanbul and now local and regional clients will deal directly with the office in Tbilisi.
“I have been in Georgia several times already,” said Stransky Karel, Director of EMEA Corporate Solutions. “I was advising one of the multi-national companies in the oil industry. I would say that doing business in Georgia is very easy. I found the environment very transparent and very flexible, adoptable for foreign investors. There is a great potential for the country in terms of distribution and logistics for neighbouring countries. I understand that this is a part of the Government strategy as well,” he added.
“Colliers International’s professionals are here to accelerate your success through our specialized expertise and unparalleled ability to collaborate and deliver. We help owners, occupiers and developers solve complex problems with integrated commercial property services. Our institutional and private investment sales specialists see beyond the bricks and mortar to analyse how property acquisition, ownership and disposition can build your financial portfolio.” Karel added.
Colliers is a global real estate company, represented in 63 countries and 485 offices. The Tbilisi office will operate under supervision of EMEA headquarters, located in London.
