The FINANCIAL — The fourth international, classical music festival Night Serenades will start on 25 August and last till 28 August, performed in the open air.
The historic Gonio Fortress will host the festival as it has the last few times. Famous Georgian violinist Liana Isakadze along with her internationally renowned friends will take part in the evening performances.

“International ensemble–orchestra ‘Virtuosos of Facebook’, which was created last year, will be offering four concerts to visitors,” said Liana Isakadze, Art Director and Founder of the festival. “I gathered musicians from all around the world via Facebook and created an ensemble–orchestra, named Virtuosos of Facebook. Asides from them the French conductor Emmanuel Leducq-Barom, Swiss Andrei Gavrilov, Swiss Ivan Monighetti, English Yuri Zhislin, German Alissa Margulis, American David Barnet and some other musicians will also take part in the concerts.”
The 4th festival is dedicated to the 35th anniversary since His Holiness Ilia II became Patriarch of All Georgia. The festival is supported by the international charity Fund of the Catholicos-Patriarch, the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection and Batumi City Hall.
Batumi essentially becomes the cultural capital of Georgia during the summertime. Batumi City Hall is supporting more and more cultural projects and performances with the aim of attracting more tourists. In total 899,934 tourists visited Adjara in the first seven months of 2012. 429,476 of them visited Adjara in July 2012.
“Batumi deserves the title “Georgia’s best seaside city” due to its location, infrastructure, and perspective for development,” Natia Surguladze, Vice Mayor of Batumi, told The FINANCIAL. “But we can’t make that happen if Batumi is in effect only a city for entertainment. It has to become a real cultural centre. We have to show visitors that they can have a wonderful holiday here, entertain themselves to the maximum and enjoy cultural events all at the same time. As a result Batumi City Hall always supports cultural affairs.”
“All these events attract extra visitors to the city. We are trying to expand the summer season in Batumi by hosting a multitude of cultural and other projects,” she added.
The price of a ticket for one of the Night Serenades evenings starts from GEL 10. As the general sponsor of the event, Bank of Georgia SOLO Banking offers the right of preferential booking to its clients.

Liana Isakadze founded the festival Night Serenades in 1982, held in Bichvinta, Abkhazia once a year. In 1991 the yearly tradition of the festival stopped because of the territorial conflict over Abkhazia. Eighteen years on, Isakadze reopened the festival in Gonio, Batumi.
Another festival, ‘Friends of Facebook’ will be held in Batumi during 25-28 August. The festival was founded by Liana Isakadze as well andis headed by Giorgi Isakadze, musician and Liana Isakadze’s nephew. Famous musicians from all over the world are coming to Batumi to perform concerts of their own initiative. The festival is aimed at unifying musicians from all around the world.
