The FINANCIAL — Goodwill, Hotels and Restaurants Management Group – M Group, GM Pharmaceuticals and MediClubGeorgia will be representing Georgia at European Business Awards for Phrase 2.
The results are now in for the second round of the European Business Awards sponsored by HSBC. Over 220 exceptional companies have been selected to represent their nation across Europe and compete in the next stage to ultimately win a European Business Award.
The Country Representatives will now be judged by an eminent panel of economists, academics, business leaders, politicians and media owners. They will evaluate the entries and select the top 100 scoring companies to become Ruban d’Honneur recipients, to be announced on 28th July.
Georgia is participating in European Business Awards sponsored by HSBC since 2010. The FINANIAL is official country partner of EBA. It's also represented in the board of judges.
Ruban d’Honneur recipients will be invited to attend the final stage of the competition in September when they will give face-to-face presentations and interviews to a panel of judges who will determine the overall European Business Award winner in ten categories.
The Ruban d’Honneur winners will be honoured at the gala Awards presentation ceremony at Rey Juan Carlos I in Barcelona on 22nd November, where the overall European Business Award category winners will be revealed.

Goodwill
Company Goodwill is operating on retail market since 2004 and is presented by one Hypermarket and two Supermarkets.
The annual turnover of Goodwill reached GEL 95 million in 2010. Sales increased by 50% compared to the previous year. The company’s turnover was 65 million GEL in 2009 and 52 million GEL in 2008. Goodwill which holds a 7% share in the consumer market has already launched online supermarket.
In hypermarket Goodwill the company has presented 60,000 different types of products, in Goodwill Vake 20,000 and in Goodwill Batumi 12,000 types. Goodwill is one of the major importers of German, Dutch, Italian, French, Bulgarian and Ukrainian foodstuff and non-food products. The company has its own workshops of meat product, fish, semi -factory, bread, culinary and pastries.
Goodwill has until 1 200 employees and more than 100 000 loyal consumers. Students, IDPs, migrants and persons with limited skills are among employees of Goodwill. During last year the company has considerably enhanced, a wide formatted supermarket was added to Goodwill, clothing and textile shops had been added.
M Group
Hotels and Restaurants management group – m|group was founded in 2005 with only two restaurants in management. The key to m|group’s leadership on the Georgian HoReCa market is the innovations and the team of professionals working 24/7 to improve the level of standards in the above-mentioned business. Currently, m|group’s share in the premium segment is 40%. Company manages 18 successful projects with various concepts and oriented to various price segments in Tbilisi and outside its perimeters. m|group is the first in the former CIS countries to obtain an ISO 9001:2000 certificate in quality management under HACCP concept.
As of HoReCa business in Georgia, it was founded in 2003, based on local demands as well as growing tourism business in the country. There are 6 players on the market in different market niches.
Loyalty program m|group card project noticeably decreased switching level in customers to different restaurants and local hotels and increased their loyalty level toward the projects managed by m|group. This trend led to 10% growth in annual guest amount (approximately 75.000 guest per year), that in its own turn, accumulated to EUR 1.000.000 increase in annual earnings.
New project Kvareli Lake Resort was tailored to customers needs and demands. The result accounted 7.000 guests annually that led to EUR 100.000 earning during last 12 months.
MediClubGeorgia
First established in April 1999, MediClubGeorgia remains committed to the continuous improvement of all aspects of health care provision.
MediClubGeorgia consists of three strategic business units: Multifunctional Clinic offers its customers a comprehensive list of services and is fully equipped with the latest technology provided by the world’s leading manufacturers. Learning Resource Center offers trainings in various fields of medicine for MCG staff and outside contractors. MCG LRC courses are custom, tailored to fit the needs of different individuals and companies.
MediClubGeorgia is developing a network of primary healthcare providers all around the city. The first unit of Family Medicine Center opened in 2009 and provides primary healthcare services.
As a result of the customer focus strategy MediClubGeorgia has excelled in various performance indexes. Compared to the year of 2009 in 2010 the number of patients has increased from 5200 to 8000 patients that has resulted in 63% income increase. Another important increasing variable was customer loyalty index measured in the questionnaire by the willingness of customers to visit MediClubGeorgia Medical Center in case of any other medical issue.
GMP
GM Pharmaceuticals was the first manufacturer of pharmaceuticals operated since 1998 by GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements, in order to perform the most effective and efficient quality process – It was the first precedent through Trans-Caucasian region at the moment.
GM Pharmaceuticals is the sole factory in the Caucasus where the medicines are produced through the all technological stages starting from the raw materials/API up to the manufacturing finished product.
At present GM Pharmaceuticals Ltd is producing 138 brand name drugs and the company holds 6% market share in local pharmaceutical market. GMP exports 65 brand name medicines through 9 countries including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kirghizia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Libya and Sierra Leone.
More than Million patients are treating with GM Pharmaceuticals medicines outside of Georgia. The company short term plans are exporting the products in Moldova, Belorussia and Vietnam. Company is processing registration process in Europe.

Three Georgian companies – Goodwill, Wissol Group and JSC Lomisi (EFES Breweries Georgia) – were awarded a ‘Ruban d’Honneur’ prize in the penultimate stage of the European Business Awards, last year.
