GUAM-Japan Ministerial Meeting held on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly

The FINANCIAL — GUAM-Japan Ministerial Meeting took place on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

Together with the Foreign Ministers of the GUAM Member States, the meeting was for the first time attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono. The meeting coincided with the 10th anniversary of the GUAM-Japan cooperation.

GUAM Member States expressed their appreciation of Japan’s contribution to stability and sustainable development in the GUAM area, according to MFA of Georgia.

The sides reconfirmed their commitment to continue to broaden the areas of GUAM-Japan cooperation expressing their strong intention for the implementation of the “GUAM-Japan Cooperation Program”, which is a well-established platform for further cooperation in such areas as trade and investments, tourism, transport, culture, agriculture, environment, etc.

GUAM Member States expressed their gratitude to Japan for its commitment to the GUAM-Japan cooperation, including hosting annual workshops in various fields of common interests. The two sides welcomed the joint participation of GUAM Member States in “Tourism Expo Japan 2017”.
