The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said the Russian government should help South Ossetia “in laying foundation of the statehood.”
“Our task is to help this young state to stand on its feet,” Medvedev said while meeting with Russia’s Minister for Emergency Situations, Sergey Shoigu, in Kremlin on December 8, Itar-Tass news agency reported.
He instructed Shoigu to help the breakaway region in establishing its Ministry for Emergency Situations.
“They will create their own Ministry for Emergency Situations. This will be your [Ministry's] ‘small brother.’ We should help this agency to stand on its feet and to start working with full capacity,” Medvedev told Shoigu.
