The FINANCIAL — Heydar Aliyev International Airport served over 231,000 passengers in November this year, which is 23 percent higher than the same period of last year.
Over 11 months of 2016 the Baku airport served about three million passengers. 1.8 million passengers preferred AZAL, of them 500,000 passengers were transported on domestic flights of Azerbaijan Airlines to Nakhchivan and Ganja. It is 16 percent of total passenger traffic of the airport or 27 percent of AZAL’s passenger traffic, according to AZAL.
During this period, the cargo terminals transported 14,500 tons of cargo.
Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai and Kiev remained the most popular international destinations from Baku. 1.38 million passengers were transported to these destinations during 11 months of 2016.
In 2016 Iraqi Airways, Fly Baghdad, ATA Airlines, Air Cairo, Mahan Air, Komaviatrans and Russian low-cost airline Pobeda began operating flights to Baku.
The new airport terminal of Heydar Aliyev Airport (Terminal 1) was put into operation in April 2014. Its total area is 65,000 square meters.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport was awarded the category of “4 stars” by the Skytrax, which is influential British consulting company specializing in the study of the quality of services provided by various airlines and airports worldwide.
