Jack So Chak-kwong, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA), said, “The 2016 ‘Airport of the year’ award from Air Transport World is given to HKIA. This is a great honour for both the airport and the people of Hong Kong. We will continue to make every effort to enhance our operations – including expanding the airport into a Three-runway System – to meet future traffic demand.”

As part of the AA’s commitment to continuously enhance HKIA’s facilities, Midfield Concourse commenced operations in December 2015. The new concourse is equipped with 20 parking stands and can serve an additional 10 million passengers each year. Since the commencement of operation,  Midfield Concourse have proceeded smoothly; and when operating at full capacity by March, the concourse will be able to handle about 20% of HKIA’s daily passenger flights.
