The FINANCIAL — At the Caring Company Partnership Expo hosted by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) on May 10, Hong Kong Airlines , an internationally-acclaimed full-service airline, was again presented the “5 Years Plus Caring Company Logo” in recognition of its commitment to caring for the community, its employees and the environment in the past years.

Mr. Stanley Yau said, “We are glad to receive the 5 Years Plus Caring Company Logo from the HKCSS again this year. Caring for the community is one of the Company’s core values. Since its inception 10 years ago, Hong Kong Airlines takes the responsibility upon itself to contribute to society. We strive to fulfill our corporate social responsibility in three different sectors: Education, Community and Environment. Thanks HKCSS for recognizing our effort in charity work, this award is a compliment which encourages our colleagues to continue serving the community.”
Hong Kong Airlines spares no effort in community service. By setting up corporate Volunteer Team, it encourages employees to participate in charity events, such as Caritas Fundraising Bazaars, raffle ticket sales, volunteer visits, charity runs, etc. Last year, Hong Kong Airlines joined hands with Pok Oi Hospital to organize “Fly with Faith-Taipei Tour for Seniors”, sponsoring air tickets to Taipei, afternoon tea buffet and coach service to underprivileged elderly, showing care to people in need.
For education, Hong Kong Airlines always supports youngsters to fly high and reach their dreams. Since the launch of Triumph Sky High Junior Programme in 2014, it has brought a unique flight experience to around 400 local students from different background. “Embrace the World” Student Sponsorship Programme, another signature programme of Hong Kong Airlines, has given away 1000 complimentary tickets to students with outstanding performance in their studies or other fields. This year, Hong Kong Airlines has extended the Programme to universities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), in addition to the original beneficiaries of primary and secondary students. 50 award-winning schools and NGOs will each receive 20 complimentary air tickets, offering opportunities to more youths. The programme is now open for registration. Please visit www.hkaembracetheworld2016.com for more details.
For environmental protection, Hong Kong Airlines operates an all-Airbus fleet. To encourage youngsters going green, Hong Kong Airlines cooperated with Green Monday, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting a low-carbon and healthy lifestyle, last year to add a green element to its “Embrace the World” Student Sponsorship Programme, offering complimentary air tickets to primary and secondary students with outstanding performance in environmental protection. Besides, the Company also sponsored “Glocal Greenovation Challenge 2016” co-organized by Voltra, a NGO dedicated to promote international voluntary services, and Sa Sa Making Life Beautiful Charity Fund, encouraging over 100 participants to help corporates solve the “Green Challenge” they are currently facing, with the aim to fight against global warming and promote green to the public.
