The FINANCIAL — The China’s IT security appliance market will grow by 14.7% to USD 950 million in 2013; and this figure will reach USD 1.56 billion by 2017, with a 2012-2017 compound growth rate of 13.5%, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC).
China’s IT security appliance market increased by 13.9% to US 830 million in 2012, according to IDC’s China IT Security Appliance 2013-2017 Forecast and Analysis, 2012H2.
Pei Wang, Research Manager, IT Security Market Research, IDC China explains that in the IT 3rd platform era with cloud computing, Big Data, mobility and social at its core, China IT security appliance market has seen continuously strong demand. Both policy-oriented drive and demand-oriented drive will expedite the development of this market.
"Government, telecoms and financial services remain as the three biggest purchasers, accounting for 58% combined. Compared with the first half of 2012, the government’s share of investments has increased, and telecoms’ share remains similar. Affected by the overall economic environment, the shares of finance and manufacturing are decreased by a small margin,” Wang said.
The fact that traditional security products are no match to emerging security threats inevitably promotes the upgrading of border gateway products, with perceptive recognition technology driven security products driving the replacement of border security products and security vendors both inside and outside China introducing new generation security gateway products, according to IDC.
UTM appliance will be increasingly recognized by SMEs and users in medium and high-end markets, as its performance improves. IDC predicts that UTM appliance market will grow by 23.4% to USD 250 million by 2013, with a 2012-2017 compound growth rate of 20.5%.
With continuously strong demand for Security Content Management appliance products which have been highly recognized among users in recent years, governments and industrial regulations will drive the development of this market, especially the market for products mainly featuring internet behavior management.
Constantly changing user demands for IT and management serve as the driving force for further investments in internet behavior management products. Thus, IDC predicts that the security content management appliance market will grow by 25.0% to USD 120 million in 2013, with a 2012-2017 compound growth rate of 19.9%.
