The FINANCIAL — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced plans for a Holiday Inn Resort hotel in Pagosa Springs, Colo., adding to the growing global Holiday Inn Resort brand portfolio, currently at 40 properties worldwide. This announcement comes on the heels of the recent opening in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., as well as a new resort under construction on Jekyll Island, Ga. – both announced earlier this year, according to IHG.
“We are thrilled that the Holiday Inn Resort brand continues to expand and build a strong presence in key leisure destinations,” said Joel Eisemann, chief development officer, the Americas, IHG. “These properties further strengthen the reach and presence of the Holiday Inn Portfolio of Brands and are backed by the quality and service guests have come to expect,” Eisemann added.
The Holiday Inn Resort Pagosa Springs hotel is slated to open by summer 2015, following extensive renovations by the ownership. The three-story property will have 101 guest rooms including 11 suites. Guests can take advantage of complimentary internet access, 8,500 sq. ft. of meeting space with the largest room accommodating up to 200 people, an indoor pool, fitness center and a business center.
Nestled in the San Juan Mountains, guests can enjoy access to activities available year round such as golfing, rafting, horseback riding and ATV rides. Additionally, skiing and snowboarding activities are available nearby at Wolf Creek Ski Area – boasting more average annual snowfall than any other resort in Colorado. The largest snowmobile tour company in the area – Wolfcreek Snowmobile Tours – also operates out of the resort, according to IHG.
“The Holiday Inn Resort brand is one guests have come to know and trust, aimed at providing family vacation experiences that create lasting memories at our diverse group of properties,” said Heather Balsley, senior vice president, Americas Core Brands & Brand Operations. “The Holiday Inn Resort Pagosa Springs is an ideal property to add to the growing brand portfolio as it offers many leisure activities and entertainment right on property and in the surrounding area for the entire family to enjoy,” Balsley added.
