The FINANCIAL — InterContinental Hotels Group, announced the opening of the 187-room Holiday Inn hotel in the northeastern city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, according to InterContinental Hotels Group.
Bucaramanga’s first Holiday Inn hotel brings IHG’s hotel portfolio for Colombia to nine including two hotels in Bogota – the Holiday Inn Express Bogota and Holiday Inn Bogota Airport, Holiday Inn Cartagena Morros, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Medellin and properties in the pipeline to be developed in Barranquilla, Cucuta, and Cartagena.
“The Holiday Inn Bucaramanga hotel is just one example of IHG’s vision for expanding the brand in Colombia,” said Alvaro Diago, COO, Latin America and Caribbean, IHG. “Bucaramanga is the country’s sixth largest city with a thriving economy and there is a growing demand for well-known international hotel brands, like Holiday Inn,” he added.
The 18-story new-build property is located in one of the most upscale areas of Bucaramanga and just minutes from the city’s financial district of Cabecera, private and public sports venues, as well as ecological parks offering adventure sports like rafting, mountain climbing, mountain biking and motocross, among others, according to InterContinental Hotels Group.

The Holiday Inn Bucaramanga Cacique hotel was designed with the Holiday Inn brand family’s $1 billion global brand relaunch in mind, the largest project of its kind in hospitality history. The hotel features a contemporary image with emphasis on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort and a redesigned logo and signage, according to InterContinental Hotels Group.
