The FINANCIAL — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, and Operadora MEXAA, announce the groundbreaking of the Staybridge Suites Puebla hotel. Currently undergoing construction, the hotel is expected to open by Fall 2015. There are currently three Staybridge Suites hotels open in Mexico, including properties in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Queretaro, and once open, this property will be the upscale extended stay brand’s first hotel in Puebla. The 129 suite, eight–story hotel, located in the area of Plaza Mesón del Angel Mall, is being developed with an investment of more than US $12 million by Operadora MEXAA, according to IHG.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on November 20, was attended by prominent local government dignitaries including Rafael Moreno Valle, Governor of Puebla State; José Antonio Gali Lopez, Ministry of Competitiveness, Labour and Economic Development; and Roberto Trauwitz Echeguren, Ministry of Tourism.
“The Staybridge Suites brand recently became the fastest growing brand in the upscale extended stay segment, and we’re pleased to contribute to that solid growth with another development in Mexico,” said Gerardo S. Murray, Regional Vice President of Distribution and Commercial Marketing Mexico, Latin America & Caribbean, IHG. “The City of Puebla needed a hotel brand for guests who are traveling for weeks or months at a time and the Staybridge Suites brand offers travelers a place to enjoy home-like experiences combined with affordable and comfortable accommodations to meet all of their needs.”
