The FINANCIAL — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak in Indonesia with PT Bali Perkasa Sukses – a subsidiary of PT Agung Podomoro Land Tbk (APLN), one of the largest real estate developers in Indonesia. The 280-key design led resort will be the first for the brand on the popular holiday island of Bali, featuring both rooms as well as villas, according to IHG.
Expected to open in 2015, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak is located in the heart of the island’s colourful Seminyak district. The resort is well placed along one of Bali’s popular beachfronts, famous for its spectacular waves, vibrant nightlife and breathtaking sunsets. Guests can enjoy the hotel’s spa facilities for a relaxing holiday, or take a walk out to visit some of Seminyak’s stylish fashion boutiques, art shops and casual chic restaurants such as Ku De Ta and Potato Head just minutes away.
Bali continues to draw travellers from all over the world with 2.9 million overseas visitors recorded in 2012, a 4.3% increase from the previous year.
Hotel Indigo, the world’s first globally branded design led hotel brand, is new to South East Asia, according to IHG. With just over 50 hotels globally, the Hotel Indigo brand will make its debut in the region with the Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road which is due to open in 2014.
Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak will join two existing IHG hotels in Bali, InterContinental Bali and Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali. Indonesia has IHG’s largest development pipeline in South East Asia with over 20 hotels (c. 5,000 rooms) under its brands including InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
