The FINANCIAL — According to estimations of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, in 2010, Ukraine will sow spring grains throughout nearly 15.6 mln ha, which almost corresponds to the index of 2009, declared Sergey Melnik, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, on February 26.
According to him, agrarians of the Crimea and Kharkiv oblast have already started the sowing campaign. At the same time, in the current year, the sowing campaign starts in two weeks later compared to the traditional sowing terms due to the unfavorable weather conditions.
According to the Deputy Minister, sufficient deposits of moisture in the soil, which make favorable conditions for formation of the future harvest, will neutralize the late sowing terms.
Besides, S.Melnik declared that agricultural enterprises have sufficient stocks of mineral fertilizers and fuel, which even exceed the volumes of the previous year. According to him, as of the end of February of the current year, agricultural producers stocked nearly 400 thsd tonnes of mineral fertilizers, an increase of 30 thsd tonnes compared to the end of February of the last year. But the general required volumes of mineral fertilizers of agricultural enterprises in the current sowing campaign totals 787 thsd tonnes of reactant.
