The FINANCIAL — In 2014/15 MY Ukraine exported 257.5 thsd tonnes of wheat flour, which became the absolute record, and exceeded the previous season index by 13% (228.2 thsd tonnes).
According to APK-Inform analysts, reduction of the domestic consumption of finished goods, as well as opportunities to raise foreign currency earnings, which would compensate the significantly increased production costs, became the key factors which influenced development of the export orientation of the market segment.
It is noted that China became the leader of Ukrainian flour purchases in the reporting period, and imported 61.6 thsd tonnes of the commodity (24% of the general supplied volumes). Also, Israel (41.3 thsd tonnes, or 16%) imported significant volumes of Ukrainian flour.
In addition, in the reporting season Ukraine showed the absolute record in the foreign supply of wheat bran from Ukraine. Ukraine exported 514.7 thsd tonnes of wheat bran, up 17% compared with 2013/14 MY (439.4 thsd tonnes). At the same time, Turkey imported nearly 91% of the reporting volumes – 467.8 thsd tonnes.
