The FINANCIAL — During 10 recent years, the global production of sunflower seed increased by 32%, and in 2016/17 MY the index may reach the record level at 41.2 mln tonnes.
In particular, the share of Ukraine will cover 12 mln tonnes of the oilseed, and the Russian harvest will reach 9.5 mln tonnes, which would become the highest production indices for the reporting countries, declared the Marketing Director at APK-Inform Agency, Svetlana Synkovska on June 2, during her speech at the international conference VegOils & Meals–2016 in Rotterdam.
At the same time, during 10 recent years the volumes of global production and trade of sunflower oil increased even more significantly – up 43% and 87%, respectively, the expert added, according to APK-Inform.
According to the forecast of S.Synkovska, in 2016/17 MY the production of sunflower oil in the world will reach 15.8 mln tonnes, while its exports – 8.1 mln tonnes. At the same time, in the new season the production volumes in Ukraine will reach 5.3 mln tonnes, and its foreign shipments – 4.75 mln tonnes, which will break a new record. As for Russia, the reporting indicators in 2016/17 MY will total 3.9 mln tonnes and 1.33 mln tonnes, respectively.
India remains as the key importer of sunflower oil in the world. In the new season, the import volumes to the country will reach 1.8 mln tonnes, against 1.55 mln tonnes in the current season. At the same time, next season the share of sunflower oil in the general structure of vegetable oils imports to India will reach 11.3%, the speaker said.
