The FINANCIAL — Last year, Ukraine increased the imports of agricultural products by 4.5% compared with the previous year – to 4.2 bln USD, declared the Deputy Director on scientific work at the National scientific center “Institute of agrarian economy”, Corresponding member at the NAAS, Nikolai Pugachev on January 25.
According to him, all regions of Ukraine faced the growth of import value of agricultural products, except for supplies form the CIS countries. The EU imports demonstrated the most significant import value – 1.94 bln USD (46.3% – the share of European countries in the Ukrainian imports of agricultural products). The imports of agricultural products from Asian countries totaled 928 mln USD (22.2%), Latin America – 399 mln USD (9.5%), Africa – 204 mln USD (4.9%), and CIS countries – 166 mln USD (4%).
In particular, the imports of oilseeds totaled 270 mln USD, mainly due to sunflower seed supplies. The costs for purchasing of vegetable oils, mainly palm and coconut oils, reached 196 mln USD, according to APK-Inform.
Also, last year Ukraine imported grains (mainly, corn) at the sum of 149 mln USD.
