The FINANCIAL — In January-February of 2013 Russia exported 767 thsd tonnes of grains, a decrease of 70.2% compared with the index for the same period in 2012, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Wheat and meslin formed the basis of grain exports in the reporting period – 331 thsd tonnes, or 18.1% only of the general volumes in January-February of 2012. The export supplies of barley also decreased by 81.9% (to 91.3 thsd tonnes), and rice – down 31.5% (to 30.7 thsd tonnes).
However, as APK-Inform Information Agency said, during the first 2 months of 2013, there was observed the increase of maize exports – to 285 thsd tonnes, up 20.3% compared with the index of January-February of 2012.
Rosstat also noted a significant reduction of the exports of Russian wheat and wheat-rye flour – down 63.4% (to 9.7 mln tonnes) and sunflower seed – down 91.5% (to 3.2 thsd tonnes).
