The FINANCIAL — In January-March of 2015, Ukraine exported agricultural commodities to the European Union at the sum of 1 bln USD, which corresponded to the index for 12 months of 2005, declared Vladyslava Rutytska, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration, on May 26, according to APK Inform.
According to her, during 10 recent years the export volumes of domestic agricultural products to the EU increased in 4 times, due to growing of corn, wheat and sunflower oil production.
But grains form the most significant share of Ukrainian commodity exports to Europe. Therefore, Ukraine supplies raw materials, which is then processed in food products at European plants, added V.Rutytska.
According to her, such variant of trading is acceptable for the economy in the short-term outlook. However, it is not suitable for long-term planning, because such policy reduces the country’s competitiveness on the global market.
At the same time, in the Ist quarter of 2015 Ukraine increased the exports of grain by-products. At the same time, closure of the Russian market activated further development of relations with the European market, said the Deputy Minister.
