In January, the EU increased imports of Ukrainian sunflower oil – APK-Inform

The FINANCIAL — According to APK-Inform analysts, in the current season the EU countries continue actively increasing the import volumes of sunflower oil from Ukraine.

So, in January 2016 Ukraine shipped 134.63 thsd tonnes of the commodity to the EU, an increase of almost 4 times compared with the same month of the previous year (37.74 thsd tonnes), which also exceeds the December indices (129.56 thsd tonnes).

In January, Spain became the key one in Europe and the second global importer of Ukrainian sunflower oil, which purchased 49.62 thsd tonnes of the commodity, against 43.8 thsd tonnes in the previous month. The Netherlands took the third position in the world and the second in the EU – 37.05 thsd tonnes (23.89 thsd tonnes). Also, in January Italy – 24.85 thsd tonnes (16.95 thsd tonnes) and France – 11.56 thsd tonnes (28.58 thsd tonnes), came to TOP-10 of sunflower oil importers from Ukraine.

During the first 5 months of 2015/16 MY, Ukraine supplied 476.69 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil to the EU, up 2 times compared with the same period last MY (233.24 thsd tonnes). Thus, in the current season the commodity supplies to the EU countries outrun the import volumes to the Middle East countries, and came to the second position after South Asia.
