The FINANCIAL — On 11th of January, 2017 the Foreign Minister of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze visited the Islamic Republic of Iran, in order to participate in a mourning ceremony for late Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council and former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
Within the frameworks of the visit, Georgian Foreign Minister held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. During the meeting the sides discussed the issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda and the prospects of the development of further cooperation between Georgia and Iran. The importance of relations in the fields of trade, economy, culture and tourism between the two countries was emphasized. Special attention was drawn to regional transportation and energy projects.
Sides expressed their readiness to conduce further deepening of their cooperation, according to MFA of Georgia.
