The FINANCIAL — InterContinental Hotels & Resorts walked away with five remarkable wins, including the much coveted World’s Leading Hotel Brand 2016 for the tenth time, at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2016, held in the Maldives.
Several world-renowned InterContinental hotels and resorts across Asia took home award wins in a variety of categories. InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Vietnam won World’s Leading Luxury Resort 2016 for the third consecutive year and also for the third year in a row, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort in Thailand was lauded World’s Leading Wedding Resort 2016, according to IHG.
Testament to IHG’s commitment to constantly innovating the digital guest journey, the InterContinental iPhone App emerged as the World’s Leading Hotel Brand App 2016.
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts had major regional wins this year with a phenomenal 36 award sweep at the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia 2016 earlier this year.

The WTA was launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry and is now in its 23rd year. Awards are presented across three tiers: country, regional and world awards, based on votes by the public and travel professionals worldwide.
There are currently 68 InterContinental Hotels and Resorts across Asia, Middle East and Africa, representing over one third of a total 186 of the brand’s properties globally, with 24 in the development pipeline set to open in the coming three to five years.
