The FINANCIAL — Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Romeo Mikautadze opened the international congress – Hydropower: the Caspian and Central Asia, which is hosted by Georgia for the second time.
“Generally, the Congress on energy issues was supported by the states or financial institutions, and today we are at a high level international congress organized by the representatives of the private companies. The State is represented here as a guest only. The private sector’s interest in hydro power engineering and the fact that Tbilisi has been selected for the second time to hold this congress, confirm that the implemented as well as the planned reforms in the field are effective and response to the existing challenges. Hydro-energy resources are very important for our country, and the proper development and use of these resources is a priority for us. Rational use of local resources and reduction of the dependence on the import is the basis for the country’s energy independence,” – Romeo Mikautadze said in his speech delivered at the Congress.
The Congress is a high rank professional platform for the countries of the Caspian Sea and the Central Asian region for the dialogue on the role of the partnership between private and public sectors in the ongoing projects.
Within the scope of the event, the participants will discuss hydropower and infrastructure projects in the region and the role of the PPP in those projects, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Representatives of the state and private energy companies from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia participate in the Congress. Over a hundred delegates are visiting Tbilisi within the frames of the Congress.
Two-day Congress – Hydropower: the Caspian and Central Asia – is organized by the Vostok Capital and it will be closed on February 15.
