The FINANCIAL — Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed on January 23 in the Tech Park of Georgia, International Forum of Innovations for Hospitality and Tourism Industry is scheduled to be held in Georgia.
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili as well as the Founder and the CEO of the Creative Business Cup Foundation, Rasmus Tscherning and the Founder and the Director of the Creative Business Cup Georgia, Gela Suli signed the Memorandum of Institutional Cooperation.
According to the Memorandum, Georgia will host the investors’ forum and the final stage of the competition of innovations for Hospitality and Tourism Industry in October 2018. The competition, which has been conducted by the Danish Creative Business Cup Foundation since 2012, will reveal annual high-tech startups in various fields. For the first time this year it was decided that the competition would be held in one particular sector – for innovative startups in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, and Georgia was selected as one of the most important tourist destinations for hosting the final stage.
Start-uppers and students of different higher educational institutions of Georgia attended the signing ceremony of the Memorandum in the Tech Park. In his brief greeting, the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili highlighted the importance of implementing the innovative projects within the Hospitality Industry as one of the key factors for generating the additional income and creating new jobs in the country. Dimitry Kumsishvili singled out several exemplary start-ups, which have made a huge change in the Hospitality Industry. “I believe that Georgian start-ups have indeed a great potential not only in Georgia but throughout the world in this direction,” – Dimitry Kumsishvili stated.
Presentation of one of the Georgian start-uppers Guja Narimanishvili on his friends’ and his start-up mobile tourism application Travel Guide was also discussed in the Tech Park. In addition, all participants of the event could familiarize with the innovative prototype created by the Georgian company of VREX Immersive. This device will enable the potential tourists to view the desirable tourist destinations online in advance before purchasing a tourist package. As stated by the First Vice Prime Minister, such virtual reality depicting equipments will soon be placed in Georgian Tourism Information Centers.
The Head of the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Chogovadze, as well as the Director of Innovation and Technology Agency, Giorgi Zviadadze and the Businessman Saba Kiknadze attended the event in the Tech Park, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Over 65 countries, including leading international companies and investors participate in the annual major international event of Creative Startups – Creative Business Cup – organized by CB Foundation in Novembers each year.
International Forum of Innovations for Hospitality and Tourism Industry includes master classes, workshops, as well as project competitions and presentations on potential investment possibilities. Local and international businesses invited to the forum are able to fund interesting projects and contribute to their international implementation.
