The FINANCIAL — International Olympic Committee will send a group of special advisers and experts in Georgia to examine the current and future development prospects of mountain resorts of Georgia.
This decision was made in Lausanne, at the meeting of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Head of the Mountain Resorts Development Company of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Alexander Onoprishvili with the IOC President, Thomas Bach.
The experts group will observe the possibilities of Georgia, including the development of youth sports, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
At the meeting, the Georgian delegation introduced the President of the International Olympic Committee to Georgia’s tourism potential and highlighted the achievements that Georgia has made in recent years in the development of mountain resorts.
The sides discussed Georgia’s capabilities to host the international competition of the Winter Olympic Games and emphasized that Georgia’s goal is to host the Olympic Games in the future.
Mountain ski resort development is a priority for the Government of Georgia and the Swiss experience in this process will be of great importance.
At the meeting with the President of the International Olympic Committee, the focus was also on the importance of widely used public-private partnership models that attract additional investments and promote development of mountain ski resorts according to international standards.
