The FINANCIAL — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia with the representatives of the manufacturer and importer companies on the issues related to the energy labeling of the household appliances.
According to the Protocol of the Energy Community, since Georgia is a member state of the Community, it is obliged to fulfill the the 2010/30/EU, which envisages the development of the relevant draft law and technical regulations on 12 different household appliances.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irma Kavtaradze opened the meeting. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the involvement of private sector in the development of legislation in order to ensure transparency in the proceedings, provide the companies with the newest information and  to take into consideration their considerations or proposals.
The members of the Working Group introduced the basic requirements and deadlines of the European Directives on preparation of the draft technical regulation on energy labeling of 5 types of household appliances, including combined washing/drying machines, drying machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, electric lamps.Â
As it was noted at the meeting, similar meetings will be held in the future in order to make the private sector informed on and prepared to the upcoming regulations.
