The FINANCIAL — Top-level content of the Website of ISO, which attracts some one million visitors a month and which is already available in English and French, is now also available in Russian, ISO’s third official language.
ISO is one of the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards, with a current portfolio of more than 18 600 standards which provide benefits for business, government and society in some 160 countries to tackle challenges in all three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, environmental and societal, according to the company.
The Russian translation of this top-level content on the ISO Website is being carried out by ISO’s member for the Russian Federation, GOST R – the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology.
ISO’s current President for the 2011-2012 term is from the Russian Federation. Dr. Boris Aleshin, who comments: “Availability of the ISO Website in Russian will obviously help to boost knowledge of ISO and the usefulness of ISO standards in Russian-speaking countries. This is important because ISO has been taking on an increasing importance in society. More and more companies aspire to comply with the International Standards that ISO develops as by doing so they enjoy greater trust among consumers and business partners.
“Our goal is to achieve a situation where ISO requirements and innovations are not only a serious experiment (which is how they are currently perceived by many companies), but become the main principle upon which production policies are formulated; manufacturing progress is stimulated; improved outcomes are achieved in industry; and new levels of innovation are attained.”
