The FINANCIAL — Aerobics has become one of the most in demand and popular forms of physical exercise among fitness-conscious Georgian women. Over the last decade Georgian women have become keen on visiting fitness clubs in order to look better in preparation for summer after the long and dreary winter.
Women are prepared to pay quite significantly for fitness programmes in order to look good when the warmer weather starts to dictate lighter clothing.
Aerobic dance has become one of the main fitness crazes in Tbilisi. As most women say, it is one of the most popular and enjoyable ways to get fit and remain in shape. The days are getting longer now and the temperature is increasing. Looking good is at the top of most women’s lists of priorities.
“I tend to spend a lot of money in spring preparing my body for the summer. Over recent times I have started taking aerobics lessons at one of the fitness clubs. I try to eat less and exercise more in order to lose the extra weight that I put on during winter. I usually spend about 90-100 GEL at my fitness club in preparation for the swimsuit season,” said Nita Tsuladze, Journalist.
“I am a big fan of courses of anti-cellulite massage before the bikini season starts. Anti-cellulite massage has a visible effect and makes the overall body look better. After several courses of massage I always feel much more confident and relaxed in the typically lighter clothes I wear during summer. Aerobics has recently become a hobby of mine. This form of exercise appears to be very effective in making one lose weight and look fit. I spend over 200-300 GEL on preparing my body for the summer season,” said Nana Sutidze, 29, Dentist.
“Most of my wage is spent on visiting beauty centres, but my regime becomes more intense in the run-up to summer. We all want to look our best, wearing tighter, more revealing clothes. I often feel lazy about visiting the gym and doing constant physical exercise, but together with a group of my friends I started aerobics lessons and I am quite content with them. I spend about 150-200 GEL on body massages and fitness every season,” said Tamuna Adamadze 24, student.
As Maka Korinteli, Doctor of Medicine, says, if people want to get fit they must first of all think about getting the right nutrition, most of all if they are also doing different forms of physical exercise. She advises one to swim as often as possible as swimming is one of the best ways to stay healthy and keep the body in good shape.
“A good diet must include healthy and correct physiological nutrition. All products should be eaten in moderation, no matter what the food is it, whether it is chocolate, biscuits or even cake. We can eat everything we like, but in small amounts, we should not forbid ourselves from eating any products in particular. Dairy products are most necessary during periods of intense physical exercise,” Korinteli said.
“In order to be getting adequate healthy nutrition, a person should eat three times a day and this is a very important formula. People should also eat fruit. If a person eats healthy products and has the right eating regime, only in this case will a person start losing excess weight. Correction of the body whilst losing weight begins with physical exercise. Unhealthy food can cause problems with being overweight and such, like gastric problems, diabetes, heart attacks and even cancer. The most widespread of these is heart problems,” she added.
