The FINANCIAL — On December 18, JAL Group (JAL) forecasted a total of 268,464 passengers travelling on its international flights during the Japanese New Year vacation period from December 25, 2015 to January 3, 2016 based on current reservation figures.
The total number of people travelling to and from Japan is expected to increase 2.7% compared to the same period last year, and the number of available seats is 2.3% up than previous year, according to JAL.
On the international routes, especially Southeast Asia, Oceania, Hawaii and Guam routes are showing favorable demand. Growth of inbound traffic contributes the improvement of overall international booking factor to 86.0%, increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
On the domestic routes, passenger bookings now is improving by 2.0% to 916,016 than last year, while the domestic seat capacity 3.3% down on the same period last year. The overall booking factor for domestic JAL Group flights at present is 69.9% that is 3.6 percentage points increase compared to last year.
During 2016 New Year vacation period, JAL will operate 3 chartered flights to Palau as well as 3 extra flights to Honolulu.
