The FINANCIAL — On December 16, JAL Group (JAL) forecasted a total of 332,796 passengers travelling on its international flights during the Japanese New Year vacation period from December 22, 2016 to January 3, 2017 based on current reservation figures.
The total number of customers travelling to and from Japan is expected to drop 2.5% compared to the same period last year, and the number of available seats is 4.5% down than previous year.
On the international routes, Europe, Taiwan and Guam routes are showing improved booking factor than last year. Total international booking factor is increased by 1.7 percentage points to 87.1% compared to the same period last year, according to JAL.
On the domestic routes, passenger bookings now are increasing by 12.5% to 1,224,884 than last year, while the domestic seat capacity grows by 2.4% than the same period last year. The overall booking factor for domestic JAL Group flights at present is 70.4% that is 6.3 percentage points increase compared to last year.
During 2017 New Year vacation period, JAL will operate four chartered flights from Tokyo (Narita) to Fairbanks, and one chartered flight from Narita to Palau.
