The FINANCIAL — Jamie Oliver is opening his first airport restaurant at Gatwick's North Terminal today.
Jamie Oliver at Gatwick, which occupies a 6,000sq ft space overlooking the airfield, features a Jamie's Italian restaurant and Bakery – exclusively designed for Gatwick, serving a variety of takeaway pizza, sweets and salads.
As Caterer and Hotelkeeper reported, it also includes a Union Jacks bar, a spin-off from the celebrity chef's new chain, offering a range of British small plates including dishes from the Union Jacks menu and a selection of sandwiches. In addition, the bar will feature an 'open beer' cellar offering a large number of UK beers and an all-British wine list.
Spencer Sheen, head of retail at Gatwick Airport, said: "Passengers have called for a greater variety of dining options in the departure lounges, and our partnership with Jamie Oliver sees Gatwick taking yet another step in significantly enhancing the passenger journey to, through and from the airport. This exclusive offering should offer something for everyone and we're excited to be able to open the doors to passengers today."
