The FINANCIAL — JetBlue Airways, New York’s Hometown Airline, on April 2 announces the appointment of Andres Barry as president of the airline’s new subsidiary, JetBlue Travel Products.
In this new role, Barry will lead the growth of the JetBlue Vacations brand and other non-air travel products including travel insurance, cruises, car rentals and more.
Barry, whose appointment is effective immediately, will be based at JetBlue’s main support center in Long Island City, N.Y. He will report directly to Robin Hayes, JetBlue’s president and CEO, according to JetBlue Airways.
Most recently, Barry was Partner and Managing Director at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management strategy consulting firm. During his time at BCG, he primarily worked in the travel & tourism sector, focusing on commercial growth and digital innovation for leading brands in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to BCG, he held several sales and operations management roles.
He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he earned his undergraduate degree, and Emory University, where he received his MBA.
“By creating JetBlue Travel Products, we are setting the foundation for the next level of ancillary earnings growth as we build on the great JetBlue brand through this capital-light and high margin part of our business,” Hayes said. “We are delighted to welcome Andres to lead the team as we extend JetBlue’s reach further into the travel ribbon and provide our customers with a more seamless experience.”
“I’m thrilled to be joining JetBlue, a brand which I have always admired,” Barry said. “I am looking forward to contributing to this fast-growing part of the organization and working with the team which has already built a highly successful ancillary business.”
