The FINANCIAL — JetBlue Airways on May 28 launched service to its latest destination, Nevada’s Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), with nonstop service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
To celebrate Reno-Tahoe joining JetBlue’s network, the airline’s Reno-Tahoe partners today launched a sweepstakes (a) for one lucky person to win a free trip for two to the city, including flights on JetBlue, a five-night stay at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino and Silver Legacy Resort and Casino, and a ride with Soaring Nevada Glider Rides, according to JetBlue.
“We are thrilled to finally connect Reno-Tahoe and New York; a nonstop link between the East Coast and Reno-Tahoe is long overdue,” said John Checketts, director route planning, JetBlue. “Reaching this milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the enthusiasm of our partners at the Reno-Tahoe Airport, as well as NevadaTourism, Reno-Tahoe USA and the community of Reno-Tahoe. We see a bright future with this destination, giving customers access to so many great year-round destinations in the beautiful Reno-Tahoe region and the state of Nevada.”
“Our airport and community are overjoyed to be offering non-stop service to New York on an incredible airline like JetBlue” Marily Mora, President and CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, said. “Our 24-hour town is now connected to the City that Never Sleeps. The New York Skyline is one flight away from our towering mountain peaks.”
In addition to new access to New York City, customers will also have connecting opportunities via JetBlue’s JFK Terminal 5 to several destinations along the East Coast as well as America’s largest network of Caribbean destinations. Reno-Tahoe marks JetBlue’s 89th destination.
“It’s a pleasure for us to provide service to an area with such high demand for traffic because of its natural beauty,” Jeff Martin, executive vice president operations, JetBlue. “The sights of the Reno-Tahoe area are a favorite among winter sport and travel enthusiasts for its spectacular outdoor scenery. These natural attractions make the city an obvious choice for JetBlue, as the health and natural appearance of such destinations are of key importance to JetBlue customers. Beautiful, natural destinations like our newest BlueCity Reno-Tahoe remind us that nature inspires travel and reminds us why we have established an onboard recycling system, along with other efforts.”
JetBlue will serve the route with its Airbus A320 aircraft offering the airline’s award-winning service featuring the most legroom in coach*; free Fly-Fi, the fastest broadband internet in the sky; complimentary and unlimited name-brand snacks and soft drinks; free, live DIRECTV programming and 100+ channels of SiriusXM radio in every seatback.
