The FINANCIAL — Environment Minister Tony Burke has placed the Jordan River Levee on Australia's National Heritage List.
Mr Burke said the Jordan River Levee had outstanding heritage values to Australia and was an important part of our national history and heritage, particularly indigenous heritage.The timing of the decision was made in order to meet the statutory timeframe.
The National Heritage Listing will provide the Jordan River Levee with Australia's highest form of heritage recognition. The National Heritage List was established to list places of outstanding heritage significance to Australia. It includes natural, historic and Indigenous places that are of outstanding national heritage.
