José Placido appointed Head of Financial Institutions Coverage

The FINANCIAL — BNP Paribas CIB on June 10 announces the appointment of José Placido as Head of Financial Institutions Coverage (FIC), in addition to his existing role as Global Head of Client Development & Strategy for BNP Paribas Securities Services. He succeeds Henri Foch, who retires at the end of June.

The appointment, which reinforces the bank’s objective to grow and develop its institutional client segments, is effective as of July 1, 2015, according to BNP Paribas.

Yann Gérardin, Global Head of CIB, said: “José will play a key role in continuing to develop close and long-term relationships between BNP Paribas and financial institutions. His appointment reflects our ambition to focus on the needs of institutional clients, providing them with a comprehensive range of solutions to grow their business and adapt to changes in the global financial markets. This was one of the key reasons for aligning Securities Services within CIB last year and today’s announcement reinforces this strategy.”

Prior to joining BNP Paribas Securities Services in 2014, José Placido was CEO of RBC Investor Services and RBC Dexia Investor Services. In his new extended role, he will report to Patrick Colle, CEO of BNP Paribas Securities Services, intuitu personae on behalf of Yann Gérardin.

Yann Gérardin continued: “Henri has played a key role in the development of the bank and CIB in particular.  Having started his career at BNP in 1983, Henri held a number of influential roles including Deputy Global Head of Fixed Income and Head of EMEA for Fixed Income from 2011 to 2015.  I would like to thank Henri, both personally and on behalf of the Bank, for his many contributions to BNP Paribas over the years and salute an outstanding career.”
