KfW Indicator Own Home Construction: Increase in construction of new housing expected

The FINANCIAL — The upward trend in new home construction will continue in 2012 as well, according to KfW.This is shown by the current KfW Indicator Own Home Construction, which is calculated exclusively for the economic magazine "Wirtschaftswoche": The Indicator increase significantly in December 2011 by 7.1 percentage point compared to the September figure.

 

In the last month of the last year 36.4% of borrowers supported by KfW in the framework of its Home Ownership Programme planned a new construction or the purchase of a newly constructed owner-occupied home.

The positive outlook for new housing construction is supported by the official early indicators. According to these figures, permits for constructing about 167,400 new homes were issued in the first ten months of the year 2011. This 21% more than in the same period of the previous year.

 

Equally, the development of new orders in housing construction is an indication of an increase in the construction of new housing in the next few months.
