The FINANCIAL — Kodak announces improvements to its award winning family of preheat thermal digital plates with the introduction of the KODAK THERMAL PLATINUM Digital Plate.
This exciting new plate technology offers enhancements to image quality and consistency while gaining production efficiencies through improved imaging latitude, faster processing speeds, longer chemical cycles, and increased durability that reduces the need for post baking in many applications.
“This new THERMAL PLATINUM Digital Plate allows print professionals to improve the efficiency of their imaging devices, and confidently delivers consistent quality and durability in the pressroom,” said Rich Rindo, Director Global Product Management, Printing Plates Business, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “In addition, customers will experience potential improvements in the cost of ownership with this plate through reduced chemistry and energy consumption, which should have a positive impact on their bottom line.”
Launching at Graph Expo 2008, the THERMAL PLATINUM Digital Plate will be available in the United States and Canada only, and will deliver high volume plate users unprecedented resolution, consistency and durability for ether sheetfed or web printing application.
According to KODAK, the THERMAL PLATINUM Digital Plate is rated for 500,000 impressions unbaked and more than1 million impressions baked along with FM screening capabilities of 10 micron stochastic and processing speeds up to 6.5 feet per minute.
The KODAK THERMAL PLATINUM Digital Plate extends Kodak’s leadership in thermal plates. Earlier plate innovations include: the first thermal CTP plate at drupa 1995; the KODAK ELECTRA EXCEL Thermal Plate, the first no preheat thermal plate and world’s best selling thermal plate to date; the KODAK SWORD Thermal Printing Plate, the first no preheat and highly robust thermal plate; the KODAK THERMALNEWS Digital Plate, the first high speed thermal newspaper plate; the KODAK THERMAL DIRECT Non Process Plate, a truly non process plate; and the KODAK ELECTRA XD Thermal Plate, launched at drupa 2008 and praised for its excellent on press stability. Beyond thermal plates, Kodak’s broad portfolio of digital plates offers options for violet laser systems for commercial printing and newspaper publishing.
Kodak will show its products and integrated solutions for graphic communications professionals in booth #600 at Graph Expo.
