The FINANCIAL — KPMG in the Netherlands Transaction Services practice released “Kumasi, Ghana: Potential opportunities for investors” on September 29, 2008 at the Kumasi Investment Day North America conference at Columbia University.
The snapshot provided by the KPMG report highlights potential investment opportunities in the Kumasi area. The report targets opportunities that can help drive the socio-economic change stimulated by domestic and foreign direct investment which may contribute to the development and growth process of Kumasi which is located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The report was prepared by KPMG in the Netherlands in joint cooperation with KPMG in Ghana. In addition, through an internship program at the U.S. member firm a report was produced focusing on a potential investment, “Bamboo Bike Production” in Kumasi.
As part of KPMG’s Global Development Initiative, which focuses KPMG member firms’ skills and resources on achieving the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Lord Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE, KPMG International’s Global Head of Citizenship and Diversity states “this is an excellent example of how KPMG member firms and their people are committed to making a difference to the people in sub-Saharan Africa. This report is the second of several reports being delivered by KPMG.”
The first report completed by KPMG member firms in the U.K. and Kenya for MCI was released July 10, 2008, during a series of capacity building and investment workshops designed to support investment promotion in the Kisumu area.
