The FINANCIAL — According to Catarersearch, the first branded boutique hotel in Phuket, Thailand is scheduled to open in early 2010. Langham Hotels International has signed a management contract for an all-villa boutique resort at Kalim bay, Phuket overlooking the Andaman Sea.
The resort, designed by Hawaiian American architect Clint Nagata of Blink, Bangkok, will comprise 78 villas including penthouses set on a hilltop location. The apartment-style amenities will include private bars and a contemporary entertainment centre.
Branson to add luxury Berber Tented suites to Moroccan retreat
Kasbah Tamadot, Sir Richard Branson’s Moroccan retreat in the Atlas Mountains, will add six new luxurious Berber Tented suites with private plunge pools to its property from September 30. Decorated with traditional Moroccan inspired- furnishings, each suite features a king size bed, large soaking tubs with mountain views, split air conditioning units and a terrace with sun-loungers and an outdoor dining area.
Kempinski in St Moritz to host 2009 Cartier Polo World Cup
Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz has been named the official tournament hotel of the Cartier Polo World Cup for the 25 Anniversary event in 2009. The World Cup on Snow event will take place from January 29 to February 1. “The whole Kempinski team is delighted and honoured to have been chosen as a partner by the St. Moritz Polo AG for this exciting event,” Rupert Simoner, general manager of the hotel and Kempinski vice president for Southern Europe said.
Marriot opens largest hotel outside US in Beijing
Marriott International has opened a 1,312 Beijing Marriott Hotel City Wall in the capital of the People’s Republic of China. The building is the largest Marriott hotel outside the US, and located in the central business district of Beijing. The hotel offers an array of restaurants, lounges and recreational facilities including a fitness centre and indoor heated swimming pool. A spa will open for guests by mid September.
