The FINANCIAL — On 26-28 June, representatives from State Customs Committee of Belarus will visit Latvia to study best practice on customs controls and on cooperation between control services at border crossing points (BCPs). More specifically, they will learn about how technology can be used within custom control and as part of cooperation at BCPs when conducting checks on people, vehicles and goods.
The three-day study trip will be divided into one day of theoretical presentations at the National Customs Board of the State Revenue Service of Latvia, followed by two days in the field at selected BCPs.
The visit is being organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) in cooperation with the State Revenue Service of Latvia, according to EUneighbours.
TAIEX is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with the adaptation of national laws, regulations and quality standards to match those of EU Member States in the framework of Cooperation or Association Agreements signed with the EU. In the Eastern Neighbourhood, TAIEX works with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
