The FINANCIAL — The government of Liechtenstein has pledged to donate CHF 40,000 to the WTO’s Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund (DDAGTF) in 2015 to help developing countries and least-developed countries (LDCs) improve their participation in the Doha Round of trade negotiations.
WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “I welcome Liechtenstein’s continuous efforts to help developing and least-developed countries benefit from the multilateral trading system and better integrate into the global economy. This donation supports our shared goal of improving the negotiating capacity of our poorest members.”
Liechtenstein’s Ambassador, Peter Matt, stated: “Liechtenstein attaches great importance to the work of the WTO and has supported WTO trade-related technical assistance to developing and least-developed countries for many years. This assistance package will enhance the WTO’s training programmes and help developing countries to develop their trade capacity and make full use of the multilateral trading system. This donation underlines our commitment to the WTO on the eve of MC10 in Nairobi.”
Since 2002, Liechtenstein has donated CHF 480,000 to WTO trust funds, according to WTO.
