The FINANCIAL — According to Laima Andrikienė member of the European Parliament who is a rapporteur on the Eastern Partnership report, the European Parliament will make its utmost to make the EU integration of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova an irreversible process.
The Lithuanian politician said about this after her meeting with the Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze in Brussels, according to MFA of Georgia.
Laima Andrikienė is the initiator of the Resolution on recommendations for the Eastern Partnership passed by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
Accoridng to Laima Andrikienė, Eastern Partnership has already brought tangible results to Georgia, such as the Association Agreement, including the the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, visa-free travel. The European Parliament, however, supports opening up even more opportunitie for Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. “Our policy needs to be oriented towards the future. The Eastern Partnership will give a new impetus to our co-operation and will outline a political vision for the future” – Laima Andrikienė said.
She also spoke about the European Parliament’s various initiatives with respect to the Eastern Partnership Summit, including “Eastern Partnership +” that were reflected in the Recommendations for the Eastern Partnership.
The Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze is paying a two-day visit to Brussels. Within his visit Janelidze has met with different political groups, while tomorrow he will address members of the European Parliament at the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
