The FINANCIAL — Gratton, Hamel, Kumar and Markides in definitive list Four London Business School professors have achieved the impressive feat of being placed in this year’s Thinkers50 list, the definitive global ranking of management thinkers.
Professor Gratton was voted as the 12th most influential management academic in the world ̶ improving on the 18th ranking she achieved two years ago ̶ and is one of four professors at the School to be included.
Also singled out for acclaim in the prestigious was Visiting Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Gary Hamel, who followed up closely behind in 15th.
Nirmalya Kumar, Professor of Marketing and co-director of the School’s Aditya Birla India Centre, at 26, was placed just five places above Professor of Strategic Leadership Costas Markides. Professor Kumar also won a separate award, the Thinkers50 Global Village award.
The highly regarded list comes out every two years and thinkers are judged on criteria such including originality of ideas, impact of ideas and the elusive 'guru factor'.
"It is rare to find so many people with great research and the ability to communicate that research in one place. With so many of the School’s faculty featuring in the Thinkers50 ̶̶ and Charles Handy who was involved in the School’s formative years receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award ̶̶ this was a major achievement by London Business School," commented Thinkers50 co-founder Des Dearlove.
