The FINANCIAL — Malaysia Airlines (MAS) on June 17 officially announced the appointment of two leadership position – Faridah Hashim as Head of Corporate Communications effective 1 July 2015, as well as Laurent Recoura as Head of Sales effective 29 June 2015.
In announcing the appointments, Malaysia Airlines CEO, Christoph Mueller, said, “I am pleased to announce the appointment of new leadership team members who will join us very soon and provide important input towards shaping our new airline.”
Faridah Hashim brings with her over 20 years of experience in corporate communications and management capacities and will be assisting the Company in implementing strategic communication plans with its diverse stakeholders.”
She joins Malaysia Airlines from her previous role as Head of Corporate Communications for Axiata Group Berhad. Prior to that, she was Director / PR Consultant at Media Business Network and at Hill & Knowlton, UK. She started her career in broadcasting and served as a broadcast journalist in ASTRO All Asia Networks, according to Malaysia Airlines.
Faridah holds an MA Honours in Art History from University of Edinburgh and an MA Honours Communications and Technology from Brunel University, London.
MAS’ new Head of Sales, Laurent Recoura, a French national, brings with him over 30 years of professional experience in the tourism and airline industry. With a special focus on customer satisfaction and sales strategy in his previous roles, Laurent’s priority for Malaysia Airlines will be the development and deployment of effective and customized sales and customer interaction and experience strategies.
Prior to his appointment, Laurent worked at Asia Air Philippines as Chief of Commercial Strategy; at Philippine Airlines as Chief Operating Advisor and Head of Commercial Group, and at Continental/United Airlines as Regional Director, Middle East, India, Africa. Prior to these, he performed a variety of roles for Continental Airlines, including as Senior Country Director for India.
Laurent has a Baccalauréat B (Économie) from Lycée Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, a BTS Tourisme and Transport from LTHT Nice. He studied Art History at Université Toulouse le Mirail.
